As the 2026 academic session moves into full gear, thousands of Class 12 students find themselves staring at a mountain of "Backlogs"—those untouched or misunderstood chapters from Class 11. The pressure of current Class 12 topics, combined with the guilt of unfinished work, often leads to burnout.
However, clearing backlogs isn't about working harder; it’s about parallel processing. Here is the definitive "60:40 Strategy" to help you reclaim your rank.
The 60:40 Rule is a time-management framework designed to ensure you don't create new backlogs while fixing old ones.
For example, if you study for 10 hours a day (outside of school/coaching), 6 hours go to Class 12 and 4 hours are your "Backlog Hours."
You cannot fix what you haven't measured. Take a sheet of paper and list all Class 11 chapters. Categorize them into three buckets:
Don't try to attend 20-hour full-length lecture series for backlogs. Use the One-Shot method:
If you are short on time, focus on these "rank-building" Class 11 chapters:
Many students make the mistake of stopping Class 12 to "finish Class 11 first." Never do this. If you stop attending current classes, your Class 12 will become your next backlog. Follow the 60:40 split religiously to move forward and backward simultaneously.
Backlogs are a hurdle, not a dead end. By using the 60:40 Rule and focusing on high-weightage foundational chapters, you can enter the 2026 Revision Phase (starting December) with a clean slate and high confidence.
