3. Key Changes in 2026 Application Process
The UPSC has refined its digital portal to improve security and candidate experience. Keep these three major updates in mind:
- Mandatory OTR (One-Time Registration): You must register on the OTR platform before you can fill out the CSE form. If you already have an OTR ID from a previous year, ensure your details (like address or mobile number) are updated.
- Strict Photo Guidelines: Photographs must not be more than 10 days old from the date of the online application. Your name and the date of the photo must be clearly printed at the bottom.
- APAAR ID Integration: In line with the government's "One Nation, One Student ID" policy, the APAAR ID is now a preferred field to help verify educational credentials instantly.
4. How to Avoid Application Rejection
- First-Apply-First-Allot: Examination centers (especially in major cities like Delhi, Prayagraj, and Hyderabad) are allotted based on how early you submit. If you wait until February, you might be assigned a center in a different state.
- Black Ink Only: While scanning your signature, ensure it is on white paper with a black ink pen for maximum clarity during the digital verification process.
- Fee Payment: Ensure the ₹100 fee (exempt for females/SC/ST/PwBD) is processed successfully. Check for a "Transaction Successful" message to confirm your candidature.
