With the University Grants Commission granting a Letter of Intent under India's NEP 2020 reforms, the University of Liverpool is set to open its doors in Bengaluru. This isn't a partnership program or a twinning arrangement. It's a full UK campus offering the exact same degree you'd receive in Liverpool — except you never leave India.
QS World University Rankings 2026 place Liverpool among the top 150 global universities. Teaching is rated Gold, the highest level, by the Teaching Excellence Framework. For Indian students who want international credentials without visa uncertainty or ₹1 crore spending, this sounds perfect. But is it?
The campus will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for the first cohort of students. Smart classrooms will support experiential engagement, case-based teaching and flipped classroom methods whilst research and innovation spaces and collaborative learning hubs will foster cross-disciplinary learning and industry interaction.
The initial course offerings are strategic: Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Biomedical Sciences, and Game Design. Game Design is particularly notable — it's a first for UK campuses in India and leverages Liverpool's global reputation in creative technology fields.
Students will benefit from specialised laboratories with access to Bloomberg terminals to ensure hands-on learning. The campus location at Alembic City, one of Bengaluru's most vibrant education and innovation hubs, also features an embedded co-working space enabling immediate university-industry knowledge exchange.
University of Liverpool India Campus fees for BA Business Management are Rs 11,50,000 for the full three-year program. That translates to approximately ₹3.8 lakhs annually — roughly one-third the cost of studying at Liverpool's UK campus, where annual tuition alone exceeds £25,000 (₹26+ lakhs).
Applicants are required to pay a deposit equivalent to 20% of the tuition fee at the time of offer acceptance to secure their place. The subsequent installments — 30% between July and September 2026 and 50% between January and February 2027 — will be payable as per the University's academic schedule.
There's also an application fee, but applying before 15th February offers a 100% waiver on the application fee. Scholarships and bursaries will be available, though details are still being finalized.
Here's the part that changes the equation entirely: Students benefit from a unique study abroad scheme — UK students can experience life in India, while India-based students may spend a semester at Liverpool's home campus included in tuition or transfer seamlessly for their final year.
Translation: you can start in Bengaluru at Indian fees, then potentially complete your final year in Liverpool at no additional tuition cost. That's strategic financial planning — getting a UK campus experience without paying UK campus rates for three full years.
This campus is ideal for students targeting Indian job markets or students whose families cannot afford ₹60–80 lakhs for full UK study. It works for students who want international credentials with minimal financial and visa risk. It's perfect for Bengaluru-based students who want to stay close to India's tech ecosystem while earning a globally recognized degree.
It doesn't work for students seeking Western immigration pathways through study — there's no UK Graduate Route visa if you study in India. It's not ideal for students whose primary goal is cultural immersion in the UK or building UK-based professional networks during their undergrad years.
Applicants must demonstrate minimum academic requirements including Standard XII English with minimum 70% from CBSE, CISCE, or State Boards. For specific programs, eligibility varies — Business Management requires 75% average across four core subjects with at least 60% in Class X Mathematics.
Admission is based on holistic evaluation of academic performance, statement of purpose, virtual interview performance, and any extraordinary achievements. No separate admission test is required. Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission but qualifies a student for consideration.
The University of Liverpool's Bengaluru campus is a legitimate UK degree at Indian pricing with optionality to transfer to Liverpool later. It's not a substitute for the full UK experience, but it's not trying to be. It's a calculated middle path for students who want international credentials without the financial and immigration uncertainties of full study abroad. The university's growth plan targets 5,000 students in five years and 10,000 in ten years — meaning early applicants enter a small, premium cohort before it scales.
